Requiem

The project tells a facet of the territory of Pesaro, the Italian Capital of Culture 2024. Requiem is a space that delves into the emotions of a painting: The Embalming of Christ by Giovanni Bellini. The painting served as the pinnacle of the famous altarpiece that Bellini painted in Pesaro for the main altar of the Church of San Francesco between 1473 and 1476. The painting is now housed in the Vatican Museums. Its absence became the key to an abstract narrative, using sounds and architectural light to explore the dichotomy of love and death.

Through an interactive experience, visitors have the opportunity to become part of the depicted scene, exploring it through the emotions it evokes.

The project was exhibited at the Storie e geografie (Stories and Geographies) exhibition, which features seven projects for Pesaro, the Italian Capital of Culture 2024, as a cartographic reflection on the territory.
