Limbo

Limbo is a short film that narrates the soul of an architecture, the Vatican chapel that Javier Corvalán designed for the Distributed Pavilion of the Holy See at the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale. The concept was that this structure would stimulate reflection and dialogue on the nature of spirituality.

This work represents a personal interpretation of the architecture and a vision of spirituality. We were captivated by this architecture, which immediately struck us as a carousel, and by its connection with Venice, a city of transformative and illusory character. This was the starting point for a narrative of dualisms, thresholds, changes of state, illustrating the human tension between recognizing contingency and something that transcends it. Hence the idea of a terrestrial limbo, a dizzying journey through the souls condemned to eternal waiting.
